Newbie from Sydney - building on the South coast

Hi Everyone!

I thought I would sign up here, to have a look for information and read all the build threads on here to satisfy my OCD urge as I'm planning to do a double beetle build with my Father.

Long story short, he lives on the South coast of NSW past Batemans Bay, I live up in SW-Sydney. He has 10 Acres and I'm planning to help build him a second garage, for the "toys" despite having a shed larger than the house, he says this is nececcary.

But I will be picking everyones brains here, and checking out all the info as this is whats planned;

1. For him, Mild road registerable Baja bug build, must have winch (I see him accidentally driving into a dam or a bog on the property, and it has decently steep hills). Probably simple, utilitarian, and easy done. Olive drab (he is ex defence dept) or similar as he also hates cleaning his vehicles.

2. For me, full body off resto, hunting for that classic touring image, with roof racks in wood, immaculate paint but kept quite simple, mooneye hubcaps and whitewalls maybe too?

Neither will have any extreme mods, I plan to drive mine too so it needs to have good driveability, not be low low low etc. So hopefully look forwards to 2 build logs :)

* now about myself? I'm just your typical bloke from Sydney, though in any spare time I have I have been running my detailing business. Planning to scale that back and maybe just keep it for friends/family/my personal OCD as performing 12-30 hour vehicle details outside of regular work is killing me. But hopefully I can contribute some of my detailing knowledge to the forum where its required too :) don't hesitate to PM if you need advise on anything (as long as I don't see people using sponges or T-cut I will be happy :lol: )

Cheers,

Chris.
