G'day Dylan,

How much do you sell these for and do you offer any other color schemes ...?

I would be interested in a Carbon face with red needle if you are able to fabricate such instrument.

It's illegal in South Aus to reset the odometer of a speedo.I have had 2 done and it's a pain in the arse. You need to supply a hole heap of info to the Consumer Affairs Department(go figure why they control it) and they give you written permission to alter it.The bloke who restored my speedo's wouldn't dream of touching the odometer without the consent form.

I was just thinking about that...

I guess it wouldn't be difficult however, to set the odometer on the new one to the exact same that is on the current one?
Or is that not allowed either?

I'm kinda keen for one now however, I may have to consult the bank...

Hi
its illegal to reset ANY speedometer on any car....
as it changes the value of the car....

the odometer numbers need to be perfectly aligned...
otherwise the Police etc will know its been tampered with..!!

BUT I have installed different speedos in All MY VWs over the years.... never having any problems...
I have had 3 or 4 speedos in My current beetle...

[I haven't zero-ed any of them just left the same numbers on them]]

so, when its tested for roadworthy every year..
the speedo reading would be VERY different...

and has been in KMH the past two speedos... lol

If You get a speedo repaired it will Always be at the same miles or kilometers when You get it back....
that IS the law...

but fitting a NEW speedo with 00000 wouldn't be illegal IMHO

same as fitting a NEW speedo to a late model car if the original is broken....

It's illegal in all states but noone is going to worry about a 40year VW that is already clocked a few times.

Mines been back to zero 4 times now, my mates 68 with over 1million KMs on it used to get clocked every 2 years there for a while

It's just to stop shonky sellers with modern cars.

Most people dont realise it but alot of the 90s VWs odometers go back to zero when they hit 300k.

If it says the word TOTAL on the display it's still on the first time around, if TOTAL is not there it's passed 300k.

That's good to know but why would they do that?

90s VW gearboxes suck which is the main reason most of them end up in wrecking yards before they hit 300k, so they just designed the soft ware that way.

You can still tell the exact KMs even once its back to zero

when it gets to this point the word TOTAL dissapears and they go back to zero
