Hey all.
Just wondering if stock wide 5 rims are 5" wide and 15" diameter??

I think they are 4.5 inches wide
or maybe 4 inches..
68 models had 4.5 inches and type 3s had the 5 inch rims..

Bug rims till 72 were 15x4, then from 72 on they were 15x4.5
All wide 5 stock bug were 4" wide, lowlight kombis were wider 5"ish but they were only 14" though.
What confuses people is it goes to the bead, not the very outside edge so rims, especially alloys always seem about 1" wider when you measure them to
the outside.

Odd, cos I have a 58, 59 and 60 stamped rim that are 4.5J wide?

Theyre probably splitty rims.
Its pretty rare to find a car still on it's original rims these days, especially after half a century.
