Fuel Pump


Hi Guys
I'm starting to put the KG back together and wondering wether to go with the mechanical fuel pump or change to an electric one while I can easily get to everything.
Not sure of the advantages or disadvantages of each so any advice would be appreciated.

I went with an electric pump in My beetle...
but many people still use the original type of pump...
its fitted below My fuel tank along with a filter..

I just preferred the electric pump and can switch it off at any time... with a switch under the dash...
You can buy electric pumps cheap on ebay usually or at VW shops etc...

if you opt for the electric pump remember to also fit a cut out relay so that in the case of an accident or other problem such as a fuel line rupturing the pump will stop pumping when the engine stops.There is not many things worse than a fire with the fuel pump feeding it.
Personally I would opt for the standard fuel pump unless you are running a big engine with a thirst.

I have just got a new progressive webber, will the mechanical pump work ok with it?

barls ran a progressive weber for a while successfully with a standard fuel pump prior to upgrading to the T4 motor.
