the street tyres used on thursday were 24" diameter on 5.5" rims , whilst the tyres used on friday were M&H DOT tyres 26" diameter on a 5.5" BRM , but had a much wider foot on the rollers for better grip . After the last couple of weeks of early mornings to go to work then late nights at the workshop, i was both excited and very dissapointed about dyno session. Big thanks to Wayne, ben and dean for their help. I guess we found the limits of a non flanged crank ...lol... oh well we will strip it down , put it back together with new parts and be on the track again ready for the next event.

That may be so, I should have said, 'hp figures do not change'. Back-to-back dyno runs in 3rd or top gears provided the exact same hp plot whenever I've asked for a comparison.

Yeah it depends on the dyno brand, they all have their own particular compensation factors etc programmed in.

the engine is removed from Chris' bug and the flwheel is removed for inspection . Not pretty !! but just as we suspected , the flywheel dowels have all sheared off and the washer for the flywheel bolt has welded itself to the flywheel

new bugpack 84mm flanged crank will be used in Chris' engine . The crank has type-1 mains with type-4 centre main . Bugpack main bearing set is purchased to suit the new engine case . The 5.5" chevy journal H-beam rods are thoroughly checked and rod bolts are replaced

the new CB alloy hi-top engine case has been machined for the flanged crank seal . The crank is installed into the case to check clearances . The raceware 10mm headstud kit has arrived also

I have assembled the pistons & cylinders for Chris' engine . I have also assembled the cylinder heads & CC'd the chambers again to calculate the compression ratio .
I purchased 2 sets of CB Performance 94mm barrel shims today & was horrified to see the variation in the 0.060" shim sets .... always worth checking yourself me thinks

I am assembling Chris' engine tonight ....

today the turbo header & the new turbo was installed onto Chris' engine . The new turbo is much larger that his old one . This turbo has a 4" inlet & a 2.5" outlet on the compressor housing
We will now use a 750dp methanol Holley on Chris' engine rather than the 45dcoe sidedraught weber

tonight we made some modifications to Chris' intake manifold to suit the 2.5" outlet on the turbo compressor housing . We also fabricated a mount for the installation of a Turbosmart wastegate into the turbo header

last night was transmission night at WPVW . Chris removed his transmission so that I could install his new 4th gear set . After many passes over the past 4 years the 3.44 ring & pinion still look great .
The new 4th gear set in 1.19 ratio will allow chris to increase his top-end speed with the added power that we have got from his engine with the bigger heads & manifolds .
Chris previously ran 127mph and we are expecting him now to run close to 140mph

Great to see the updates Wayne and Chris.

Those thrust faces on the 1.30 are a bit burnt.
I like to use a 091 circlip against the hub
to stop it thrusting forward against 4th.
I just machine a small step in the face of the 3rd/4th hub
so it Juuuust fits in,
and then the hub can not move, and the set end float is there all the time.

tonight I completed the reassembly of Chris' transmission , assembled the axles & brakes , then Chris installed his transmission while I bolted onto his engine the flanged flywheel & clutch assembly .
Chris is reusing his Kennedy stage-3 (2600lb) pressure plate with a new 4-puc cinter-iron disc

Chris assembles his bug back together , installs the rear wing & cuts the hole for the Holley intake , fabricates new fuel lines & accelerator cable bracket , and last night we fabricated his parachute mount which incorporates rear guard & apron stabilisers

Who makes the sintered iron disk in a 4 puck? Didn't know you could get them.

tonight Chris fabricated his turbo outlet & wastegate pipes . He connected all wiring & plumbing , flushed out the fuel lines & we started his engine . All sounds very good , will be on the dyno on thursday
