Reduction hubs trying to stop wheel spin..

Hi All

I have a kombi with reduction hubs on it, It has a v6 motor and having major trouble with it being able to break traction at speed as the rear of the kombi rises, it seems to unload the power when the vehicle hits a bump. Just wondering has anyone else experienced this and if so will weighting the vehicle be any use?

Thanks
BJ

Gday caronten. I hag a split in the 80's running twin webered 180b motor it used to break transmissions across the diff housing. after 3 boxes I swapped over to bay kombi IRS & used a single plate beetle box. It was a totally different car to drive handling around corners improved.bit of work but well worth the effort

reduction rear hubs were there because of the low power VW engines...
so
more power means replacing the reduction hubs before something goes BANG....

they were designed for the low powered & low geared VW engines and to carry loads....

You will need to replace the reduction hubs...

either with Swing axle gearbox etc... OR

IRS rear end with CV Joints....

Why would you want to break traction?

Is that the old "Gyros" twincab? If so, it's already IRS and has a CV flange on the reduction hubs to go to the 2L kombi box.

Do you know how they did that? weld flange on to cut down original axle? or use type 1 stub which im led to believe will fit early reduction gear?...
