Gearbox breather

Hi,

After just completing restoration of an Historic formula vee (and still not knowing alot about vw's) i was wondering do any vw gearboxes have breathers? Mine is a later 1500 box (i think) and i cant find any breather on it..?

any info would be much appreciated.

I think you'll find it's top center, just a little hole, maybe 2 mm.

Find it, and plug it up, 'cause if you don't, you will find it when you turn the box upside- down for the Vee, and fill it with oil!

Don't forget [if it has not been done] that the crown wheel must be changed to the other side of the pinion [unless you like to drive backwards].

Yeah i reckon i would find it then, only vee's actually run the 'box right way up but yeah, with the crown wheel swapped. Your thinking of other open wheelers with the 'box upside down like FFord F atlantic Group R and Q stuff etc. (even F5000)
I think i have found it......

thanks Guys

How embarrassment! Shows how long it is since I had a Vee [40years]. My Formula Junior had the 'box upside-down, with a 105E Ford motor.
