Ben assembles his engine in prep for warwick . This time we have decided to machine-up a set of aluminum buttons for the piston pins rather than use clips .

the engine is finished and will be put back into Bens bug before the weekend . We still have a lot of work to do fitting the Aeromotive fuel pump , filter , regulator , the demon alcohol carburettor , all new fuel hoses and fittings , all new oil hoses and fittings , and new breather hoses etc

Ben fits his engine to his beetle , we then start to assemble the fuel system . There will be no shortage of fuel supply to the carburettor as the main fuel line is 15mm diameter on the inside . The fuel lines alone hold just over 2 litres of methanol

I remove the fuel bowls from the new Demon carburettor to check the internals and jet sizes . The are 4 main jets ( 2x primary & 2x secondary ) all measuring 3.75mm each ...... geez I hope we dont have to richen the mixture . lol
we also purchase a set of Aeroflow assembly spanners to avoid scratching the new fittings

IT IS ALIVE !!
Ben has done a great job on his engine . We fired the engine after gaining oil pressure and it sounds awesome . No oil or fuel leaks . We will have Bens bug on the dyno early next week and will post results . getting excited for Warwick again this year . Bens new supercharger pulleys now have the blower at 21% overdriven .... should be exciting for him !!

2 out of the 5 cars that we are preparing are almost complete . I still have 2 modified trannys to build , the engine for my turbo oval will go back together tonight , Chris Boltons turbo engine is assembled and Cindys turbo engine bottom end was assembled last night ..... very tired , but still very passionate about what we do

we put Bens bug on the dyno at South Coast rotary . The engine is not making as much power as we would have liked , I was quietly hoping for approx 230 @ the wheels and about 20psi boost , but the old supercharger is buggered . The additional boost developed this time after gearing the blower up is escaping into the front gear drive .
This time Bens engine made 212.8 bhp & just over 1210 lbs tractive effort @ the wheels with 12psi boost . That is all we can do on his bug for Warwick this year , but he should have a great time with the added power and torque . Well done Ben !!

i would like to thank everyone from WPVW for all there help over the weekend my car ran great all weekend running 7's every run done a best of 7.047 60ft 1.523 reaction .645 98.46mph i did do a pass at 100.22mph. i pulled the clucth out a bit to fast in final and bogged it really bad and ran my worst time of weekend with a 7.976 maybe i will do better next time. once again thanks a heap to everyone that gave me a hand

Well done Ben on your very consistant driving and great to see you do so well after the past 2 Warwick VW drags had been a nightmare for you .

Bens times for the event ( in order ) were .... 7.13 @98.46 .... 7.04 @ 98.46 .... 7.34 @ 95.33 .... 7.11 @96.56 .... 7.21 @ 99.77 .... and in the final of the Top 10 shootout against Wally Pemboss , Ben buggered the start and the engine bogged unfortunately running his slowest time of the event 7.97 @ 98.90 .

took my car to wsid today for the retro day running in top gas class ran a best of 11.001. today was so good had 3 runs no problems with the car and also came home with a winner trophy :) just like to thank my crew for all there help

i had a great day at sydney vw day running a PB of 10.784 @ 110MPH not being inspected to run 10,s i had to keep backing off running 11.3 and 11.2 untill my engine developed a rattle in bottom end which i found out tonight to be streched con rod bolts so i will be stripping engine right down for a freshen up

FACT !! ..... the only thing changed on Bens supercharged drag bug between the last 2 meetings he ran was the new accelerator pedal I made for him ....

so Ben has gone a little overboard with the freshen up of his supercharged drag bug . My office seems to be a little crowded atm .
