WTB: L Bug Interior Light

Hey there!

I'm looking for the interior light assembly for a 73 L bug.

Seems the previous owner decided to remove it and put the headliner straight over the top.

I'm in SA.
PM me if you have one.

Thanks,
Seb!

Buy a new one from Unique auto parts in Melbourne, the used ones are usually fairly fragile.

How hard is it to fit one on each side? I'd have to cut a hole to feed the wires above the drivers door to feed the wires?

What makes it harder is connecting it to the door sensors, right?

Probably harder to cut the hole than feed the wires down the channel.

You just have to watch the width.
VW interior lights are very narrow.

I've got a 6 SMD LED one identical to above and it just fits.

I'll check exact width of it next time I see the bug but im sure its 19mm.

Also make sure you get the flat yellow SMD surface mount diode LEDs like that.

100x the light output of regular LEDs, far wider angle and they don't have problems dimming if you have an alarm like mine which makes the interior light fade out once the doors have been shut.
