Beam narrowing?

Hey guys,
I have a 67 beetle, 2"dropped spindles,Wide 5-205's with 145/65/15's and just about to fit beam adjusters...
Before doing the adjusters I filled the load area with about 100 kg of sand bags to see how it will look...
Looks great but I will still get tyre contact on the guards when on full lock.
So I thought I would narrow the beam 2".
Looking at it now the shock towers are nearly touching the inner guards so if they move in an inch the guard will have to cut/modded, also ithey will be right on the edge of the fuel tank!
Is this normal for a mere 2" narrowed beam?
What am I missing here?
Thanks in advance
Dave

I think that's correct Dave

that's why I don't like them...

the other way....
is to adjust the FULL lock on each side so the tyres don't touch...

even with those small tyres on the front..
You may need to heighten the front slightly...
or use wheels widened on the outside...

cheers

LEE

Just thought of another issue...
I have an anti roll/sway bar (just fitted new bushes...what a pig of a job!)
How do you go about shortening that/
I'm guessing just straightening one end then re-bend 2" in.
The question is to cold bend it or heat it up....cold it may snap, hot it may loose its springyness?
what have you lot done?

Cheers Dave

2'' narrowed isn't enough for going low (any lower than 100mm) my first beam was a 2'' and it split the outer lip of the gaurd with in a month you can go 4'' with flat style end plated or 4 and a bit with Tin KDF (Bugboy) designed end plates

Dub beams are the G O. Fitted one to my 61. Wheels don't rub at all and it sits about one inch off the deck. Really strong well made Aussie too!

These beams look great. Saw them in posts ages ago. How much for one?
