Type 3 auto torque converter oil

Never pulled a vW engine out on my own before. Did so today in readiness for the EA81 conversion.

I noticed I could pull off the torque converter easily after the flax plate was detached. There was a little hardened oil around the inside of the bell housing but nothing serious. A few questions...

1/ Does the converter fill up with oil from the transmission? It seems to.
2/ Is it worth renewing the seal that I can see that prevents oil from escaping this area?
3/ If so what would be the best way to do this? dEstroy the original seal or is there a tool for extracting it?

I've started a conversion thread. It might assist trike owners in the future.

The torque converter is supplied oil from the transmission.
Yes replace the seal every time you disturb it, it's fussy.

thanks

and to extract it? and do you use two seals as explained in some web pages?

I was thinking of replacing the seal between the auto tranny and the diff. is it worth doing? Seems like a lot of work there and my aching back!!
