[FS - NSW] 58 beetle fully restored with new 1776
Folks,
It's gotta go folks -- too many other bills to pay. Have slashed the price down to $9.5k. Have also just replaced the alternator and starter motor
with brand new units.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1958 that I got a few years ago out of Qld.
Completely stripped it, cleaned it and rust repaired it (all done professionally). Then professional resprayed in the two tone blue and cream you
see.
Heater channels were and still are solid. Only big patch was in the lower corner of the windscreen and that was repaired with steel. All repairs were
done professionally by panel beater. Happy to give you their details to check their reputation and have lots of photos.
# Floor pan sprayed with Por15 then Dynamatted,
# Roof, doors, rear firewall ( both sides ) and trunk all Dynmatted
# Undercar Por15 treated then sprayed with sound deadener protection.
# Removed all the metal beading around the bonnet and engine lid – went to Mexican seals instead.
# All electrics removed and new loom fitted. 12 volt conversion and modern blade fuses installed.
# Running off this is a New Retrosound head unit and a 10inch sub in the parcel area and an amp under the drivers. Professionally installed and
discrete.
# Sealed beams, good indicators, 2 speed wipers with type 3 mod so you get blades that work etc etc
# Gauges are hidden in the glove box and speedo even has a trip meter which those in the know will tell you is not real common.
# The car is sitting on 15 inch Mangels, tyres have done less than a 1000k, sway bar with new rubbers.
# Adjustable front beam, New Wide 5 front disks, Brand new King and Link Pins, Adjustable rear swing arms I got off CBB in Penrith, Type 3 rear drums
for the extra size
# Gary from VW Classic built me a New 1776. 40mm Kadrons, various look nice bits in the engine bay.
# It is mated to a 1500 box that was completely rebuilt – for the better ratios
# Dual circuit braking with the clever Volvo reservoir mod fitted to the top of the cylinder.
# Interior is completely retrimmed, floor / roof / trunk / seats and again you can speak to the trimmers if you want any extra details. Seats are all
original for the year and in the frames were also stripped, treated and resprayed.
# Its got new Flat 4 Eliminator shifter, Rose wood door handles and brake handle and wooden steering wheel and of course an under dash tray to
complete the look. Even had customer leather brake and gearstick boots made.
# Also has a set of original 58 popouts…..and yes they were a pain in the arse to fit.
Lots of other things I guess but that should give you the idea….
Only other thing is I have lost the key to the passenger door -- will try to find the damn thing but no promises.
Whole package has done less than 1200kms as we have only done a couple of long drives and the rest just coffee runs around the Shire. Car is rego’d
till Nov 2012 and I am happy to go and get a new Blue slip to sell it with if needed. Its insured for $22k (shannons) and we want $9.5k for it.
I have every single receipt and every contact number for people who have done work to the car.
Thx and happy motoring….
