Anyone have pictures of 68 onwards beetle rear seat hook?

Hi guys,

just bolted in the rear seat but it must of been years ago since i removed what ever the rear seat hatch/hook thingo went around on the body to keep the rear seat back rest bit from flying forward.

Does anyone have a photo of what this bit looks like or how it fastens?

is it a hook on the later 1500 series beetle onwards?

thanks heaps,
Chris :)

Chris,

I think yours is the same as my 75. The seat back has a bar with bends on the end that hooks over a round 'stop' on each side, as in this photo.

The bar itself looks like in this photo before my seat back was trimmed.

And in this photo, you can see on the passenger side, there is a small 'handle' facing down that has a vinyl loop on it for a handle (something like a very light duty version of the straps on the B pillar) so you can grip it to operate the bar. The loop handle tucks down beside the seat back.

I hope this helps.

All fatchick bugs are the same.
The rod runs through the seat with the bent hook at either end like in Jeffs pics above

theres a plate on either side that screws to the rear door panels

You can see them in mine here

Oh yes, you are correct Joel. I didn't have a photo after I had fitted them and didn't think of them.

I have been too long without my bug - sigh. Hopefully next weekend?

I know the feeling all too well, I'm hoping to have mine back together for next weekend too.
