I have seen them over the years but In a pinch you can solder a wire from the centre to the outside to bypass the resistor.

I've seen modified ones, you simply dig out the epoxy and replace the resistor with a piece of brazing rod or the like.

There was a thread on it on the Samba or the Cal Look forum a long time (years) ago.

Hi

Thanks for the replies, I just bought a MSD 6AL 6425 DIGITAL IGNITION on eBay for my sons 1904 cc bug.

I'm trying to get it into the 10s at Warwick, just fitted GB 309 cam and upped the comp, it goes much better now, he did 10.8 @ 61mph in 2009 and won his bracket.

I just sent an email to Bosch Australia, their technical help has been good in the past when I needed a wiring diagram for tachometric fuel pump relay, maybe there is factory one that will do the job.

Yes
I think cip1 may sell them... or maybe cb performance

I have one somewhere...
was going to fit it to My new SVDA DISSY
but haven't been able to find it as yet...

You would think someone would bring them in...

might ask vollks.com.au to get them in...

Hi

I received a reply from Bosch "We would like to advise: No there is none available as we are required by law to include suppression in all our products. You could dig out the epoxy and solder a wire across the resistor.Your responsibility."

I found this on the samba

"Don't bother digging out the resistor.
The way I've done mine is with a thin strip of brass from a good hardware or hobby store. What I use is 1/4" wide x .015 thick.
It is just soldered across the top of the rotor; a small dab at the center of the rotor, and one at the tip. Then just snip it off and file the brass to match the contour of the tip of the rotor.
Looks like this doctored photo:

These hold up very well, and it's simple and clean.
Good Luck, Mondshine"

Hi

No such thing as silly question. The MSD will make a much fatter spark, it will burn the resistor out in the rotor.

The resistor burnt out in one of the locals beetles a couple of years ago

I have never had one burn out but always carry a spare or 2..

New distributor cap too...

I can't remember ever seeing a resistor in a rotor button in any other cars I've owned...
