Hey Guys, ready for something different?

Hey everyone. I've been lurking around here for a while and thought it's about time to introduce myself.

Back in about '86 I inherited a Manx Beach Buggy from my father as my very first car, and so my affair with VWs began. As an 17yo at the time I had a ball with that car until finally the need for something a little more practical led me to sell it.

After a brief dabble with a Peter Wherrett Sigma, I decided I missed having something different, and with a bit of persuasion from my Kit Car loving Dad, I purchased a Sabre MK2 kit in '89. I spent 2 years building a unique "one off" with the help of the guys at the factory and then another 13 years enjoying it. Unfortunately in about 2004 I lost a bit of interst in it, and my mother "bought" it off me for a steal, as she couldn't bear to see me sell it.

In the past couple of years I've toyed with buying a KG, but just recently I've had thoughts of rekindling my relationship with my beloved Sabre. Fortunately for me, my mother has had it in storage for the past 7 years and has been paying the rego the whole time. I haven't seen it in a long time but I'm heading up to her property this weekend to see what state it's in, and see if I can coax it back off her. Wish me luck :)

One of the few images I have of it:

Well, went to see my mother on the weekend but unfortunatley couldn't see the car. It's still in storage at a friends place near Toowoomba, as they're still sorting themselves out after a recent shift up from NSW.

Good news is they seem ok about me buying the car back, so I'll probably ring them sometime this week to discuss money and see if tee up a time to see the car and hopefully pick it up.

Also told my father about this website yesterday, so hopefully I can convince him to post up some info about his Sabre Mk2 as well.
