Body back on pan time! - Alignment + Tips? (this weekend)
Hi Guys,
Got some boys coming around this weekend to help me mate the pan and the body. Pan is currently hanging in the shed and has been for a while. What do
i need to do to it before mating? Not painting or really anything so any basic tips or maintnece tips would be great.
What have poeple done to ensure correct location and alignment? i have heard about melting holes in the pan seal to allow the bolts to go through...
Cheers

Hey cool, another milestone getting close for ya !!!
On alignment the way I did mine was to put a couple of studs through the rearmost body mounts points in the rear shock towers to act as guide pins.
Then when lowering the body down if you line them up and the ones in the front beam you should be all good.
Holes in the seal I wouldn't do until you have the body actually on.

Nice cheers, is there much movement from the frane horn mounts rear and front beam mounts, will i have different wheel arch gaps.
I was thinking that it might cause some issues and i would hate a water leak. I have heard that other people have had issues with not being able to
get the bolts through. What do you suggest once they are mated?

On mine there wasn't much movement, so think you'd be OK. The shape of where the body mates to the pan is almost self centering anyways.
I didn't have the bumpers on when I lifted mine, but they should be OK... after all just the bare shell, no doors, glass out etc. would only be about
100kg or so.
In my case just had two of us... my mate lifting under the front apron, and me lifting by grabbing the rear sides near where the bumpers bolt on...
easy peasy.

You can lift by the bumpers as they are pretty strong. Make sure the pan seal is positioned properly. You could use some carpet tacks to hold it in
place.
I used a stanley knife to cut a cross shape in to each of the hole positions so the bolts went through easily when the body was back down. Other than
that, as long as you do what sides says and line up the front and rear holes, it should be pretty straight forward. Just take it slowly as you lower
it.
If it is a strut bug, you will need to align the struts in to their positions as you lower the body.
