How to remove the rear shock tower body bolts?

As the subject states I am currently removing the body from my Baja and am wondering the easiest way to remove the 2 rear shock tower body bolts? It is a very awkward position.

Nick, give them a good soaking of wd40 or similar overnight first as they will be more than likley seized to start with and if you have access to some heat even if it's just a butane torch heat up up the surounding area of the cast shock tower and couple to ring openenders together for good leverage , ie the ring end of first spanner on bolt head and another large ring spanner 90* to the first hooked over the open end of the first spanner
Being cast just don't put to much heat into it as it will become brittle .

Thanks guys.

Yeah i have access to a blow torch Andrew so i will give it some heat.

I have been soaking them for 2 days now in WD40, It is very awkward get a spanner on with the wheel and tyre still on the car. I am worried that with them removed the force needed to crack them will knock the car off the jackstands.

I will give it another go tomorrow

Most of the other body bolts came out well. I snapped 1 which i thought was a fair result considering the time they have been in there.

Just take of the wheel where your working especially if you start using heat as heat and inflated tyres don't mix well if you want to keep your head where it is

if you are worried about it slipping off the stands ,chuck your tyre underneath as an extra precaution ,then if it does slip it lands on your tyre which keeps it off the ground ,so its able to be re-jacked up

Bud it shouldnt be too hard, i have done more than three cars and each was no issue. Have you trid a ring spanner with small movements or a short extension, both methods have worked for me. If you have the right sized ring spanner, set the spanner and give it a good hard crack with a hide hammer or similar.

Good luck
