Performance, Suspension upgrade and hydraulic clutch!
Thought I'd post some pics of a suspension upgrade, full indepandant, with trailing arms, coils and shocks. Was an easy job, all bolt in. Trying to
breath a little life into the fast back.
With some tuning should get a great ride and hold the road better than ever!!

Thought I'd look at an engine upgrade at the same time, trying to find a way to get better support on the engine, so will be going with a solid
support at the rear to hold everything in place.

Suggest getting an early Type 3 Swing Axle rear suspension and converiting it to IRS this way you will have forks and a cradle to mount the gearbox to
the same as a Beetle. I know Type 4 Kombi motors hang in the back but the body is much stonger than a type 3.
Late Type 3's like in your pics even had trouble keeping their stadard motors in the engine bay with their hangers let alone a type 4 motors like in
your pics not to mention the added weight and and the added horesepower.
Cheers,
David

Yep, it's cretainly a weak point. This has a strengthened rear member and support up into the body. The type 4 motor should be a nice fit though.
Late Bay's also had an additional support above the gear box to another chassis member.

Come on, surely some one can guess what this is?
Let's narrow it down, VW, air cooled........
What's the suspension?? Factory VW, so is hydraulic clutch.

Now there's a plan!! That would be a lot of fun at Warwick...
Still no one keen to comment further? I must admit some of my posts are a little misleading.
It is all factory VW, and pretty much original, boot up the front, has been to many QLD shows where it's also left out in the cold unnoticed.
