POR 15 is best but You would need to use all their preparation stuff [comes in a kit]

otherwise You end up with a shiny black surface [the paint] sitting on top of the metal... lol

the paint sets hard as a rock... true...

You can hit it with a hammer... won't chip..

top and bottom of chassis...

stops rust too...

I have found the stuff i am going to use gator gaurd. It is a spray-on ute linner .just spray with a swartz gun .It is like rino linning but diy it is extreamly hard and fully waterproof so will stop rust . It is available at automotive paint supply cost $250 for a 4l kit . can be applied very thick if needed .And will work as a sound deadener.

allthough that stuff is good it is not a good idea to use it on ur floorpan

its a rubber based product, yes it goes hard but if you chip it which you will being under the car the water will get between the liner and the floor making it lift with out you knowing it.

great in a tray but not for the underside of a floor...

steff........

I am a Rhino linings applicator. It is a spray on 2part polyurethane, KBS and POR15 are solvent based polyurethane paints. I would assume that Gator guard is a polyurethane as well, $250 for 4ltrs is very expensive, I charge about $750 for a ute tray and apply it 4mm thick which is about 17-18 ltrs of product which is less than the material cost if you were to apply gator guard to the same thickness. Hippo liner is a cheaper alternative at $99 for 4ltrs. But remember anything solvent based is not as strong as a raw polyurethane due to the solvent breaking down the polymer chain which will not be fully restored when the solvent evaporates. I have coated the chassis of my buggy top and bottom to use as a demo, I got a bit carried away and coated the body as well. I thrash this buggy offroad and on the beach I wipe it clean just like a teflon saucepan. As far as chipping, I can only speak for Rhino. It is virtually impossible to chip it is to flexible. I've seen it cut, I've seen it de-laminate due to poor surface preparation but never chip. When I demo Black Betty (my buggy) I hit it with a hammer with no fear of damaging the Rhino, mind you I have to be careful not to smash the fibreglass or dent the steel underneath. I have coated several chassis in both POR15 and KBS and both are excellent (as far as paints go) but I think KBS sticks a little better.
Cheers Ian
