Painting Fuchs
Hello,
Painting Fuchs, do I need to use a Scotch Brite pad, epoxy primer & sand paper before painting?
It seems obvious, that I should, but after all my research on How to Paint Fuchs Rims, I read a thread that mentioned, I could just
paint the rims in black, no prep required.
Condition of my wheels:
Front rims - Flat 4 5.5/15 Repros - polished finish, new - still in the box.
Rear rims - the real deal 6/15 - polished - used, very good condition.
Any thoughts?

i used an etch primer when i did my lightning GT wheels
i polished the whole wheel the masked off
etch primed then three good coats of engine enamel
volkaholics.net come check us out

im a faux finisher and can tell you it wil just flake off after a while
need to scuff it up then etch prime, i use one called super etch by wattyl
then i use engine enamel because its heat resistant and dries super hard
volkaholics.net come check us out

yeah how good is it! I once have to re do a small job that I had just painted with that.
I tried everything including a propane torch to remove the primer. Then I left it in acid for 24hrs to remove the primer residue.

Thanks for the advise. Will try to get the etch primer & enamel paint over the weekend.
Tonight, I will have fun masking off the petals! 
Vlad, I'm relieved, that I don't have to remove any paint, primer or anodizing etc from the rims. I am imagine repairing the rusted out quater panel
on a Type 3 notchy would be more fun!

Will if you use etch primer sticks like shit to a blanket ,i used 2 pac

Etch primed one light coat the second a bit heavier using a 1.8mm tip

6'' on the left and 4.5'' on the right
invested in a $100 dollar plus spray mask but still feeling a little dusty :roll:
Getting pumped for the ghia's return in paint this week will prolly go down with jase mid next week to pick it up
