I don't know if it will be any cheaper Dylan with more stuff..

as I worked it out once to about $80 a kilo they charge..

yet there was another company that would send a new SVDA distributor to anywhere in the word for $30US..

how would You work out the postage??

LEE

PS smoked tail lamps are illegal.. lol

as far as I know they Must be RED or at least show a RED light..
so a red bulb would do the job..

the other most important thing is that they must have a RED reflector...

I have seen some in the US with the red reflectors...
and clear ones with red reflectors..

I thought You wanted LED types??
How did You go with headlamps?

saw a Q7 Audi today with a long U shaped row of LEDs around the headlamp... and a row of orange/amber LEDs for the blinkers..

LED headlamps are next...
all the electric cars will need those.. lol

cheers Dylan

Im having a LED Strip of DRL's (Day time running lights, like audis have) and a LED strip of amber coloured LEDs for my indicators. I will start with trying to get onto George to see if i can get the tail lights there, wont this be a mission just to get hold of him lil own the lights hehe (:

So they should be. Those lights are a danger on all car factory and non factory fitted.

The light is too blight and uncontrolled especially low beam.

they make me mad :grind: can't see shit at night when cars with HID are near by.

When I first read about daylight running lights...

I believed they would go OFF when the headlamps were on..

BUT NO they don't...

Yes, the NSW have a blitz every now and then and they are looking for after market fitting of HID headlamps...
even in cars that they were an option....

Dylan,
those crystal head lamps are for looks only...
My Son has fitted those into a car and He said You cannot see anything at night time...
Blue headlamp bulbs are also illegal... in NSW...

I read where HID headlamps are supposed to be self levelling?
and I know many people don't like them..

Hella H4 with very bright 60/55 watt [legal] bulbs
I have Osram made in Germany silverstar bulbs
50% brighter than normal but legal wattage...

Narva has +50 bulbs 50% more brighter... have used those too.

cheers

CIP post on wieght and size for international orders.

Basically the more you order past a minimum amout the more you pay for postage.

They also have a clause which states they can reassess postage costs to international orders and reserve the right to cancel an order if an agreement cannot be made on postage charges.

And also anything that is over $1000 get import taxes applied. If you go bulk order it is east to break this.

seems to be a lot of 'nay sayers' about shipping from the US.

Without being too scientific there seems to be a minimum cost of about $45 from CIP1. So its true that if you selectively add items to your order the postage-per-item averages out and becomes more acceptable.

Looking at it from another viewpoint, ignore the fact that you are paying postage, maybe even an extra 10%, just add up the total cost , compare it to what you will pay anywhere else......Is it significantly cheaper? Is it a reputable online business? Answer = yes.... then go for it.

I've said it before, not everyone is just down the road from a major VW specialist parts importer / retailer, or has access to 'mates rates' from those businesses.
I can buy a CB Performance dual Weber IDF full kit. Thats CB manifolds, hex linkage, air cleaners, all top of the wozza stuff, for $800 Australian, shipping $150.
Thats half price !!! Scary for some people.... bargains for others.

I have ordered twice from CIP and was very happy both times.
To get best value for postage, it seems to me, run your order up as close to $1000.00 as possible.
Over this and you can be charged GST and possibly other fees.

Yes Phil

Most of the parts I look at from USA are not available here...
for My 68 semi auto beetle...

plus all the parts I have bought from CIP1 & CB Performance have been excellent quality... a lot [CIP1] is actually made in the USA

When I was restoring My beetle in 1997-2005++ many parts that were NLA are now available in the USA but not Aust because of the low numbers of those parts sold here..

I never order anything over $350, so maybe that's the problem.. lol..
I did order from CIP1 years ago, and got it sent by seamail
and it took about 3 months to get here... lol
I don't see anyone offering that now.. its either AIR UPS... or AIR US Postal Service... $$$$$

cheers

LEE

forget about the past.

These days with US Postal Service ( USPS ) its about 6 to 8 days from the US to WA, which is a little bit quicker than from the East Coast of Australia to WA.
And like I said, dont look at what you are paying for the shipping cost, look at the total cost.

I just paid $950 for a set of Spanish made Weber 44 IDF carbs with the full CB Performance set:

CB6413 Dual 44 IDF Kit - fits T-1 Sedan - Dual Port 1 $799.98 $799.98
Shipping: U.S.P.S. Priority MailĀ® International: $155.58

FYI I just ordered stuff from CIP1 and they can get it to Sydney faster than they can get it across the US to where I'll be by road freight. If I had of been more organized and ordered a few days earlier I could have gotten free freight.

Either way, its a good time to order now. The AUD is a little lower but most of their stuff is 20% off. Sale ends 30 Nov so get in and order fast!

Apologies to the local retailers, but their proces are very good.

You should also see what Amazon are carrying these days. They have a load fo car stuff, from wheel sand tyres to a full compliment of Auto Meter gauges. Gone are the days of Amazon being only an online book store. I'm about to order some tools from them. Even with shipping its way cheaper then Bunnings, and I like going to Bunnings.
