Type 3 Engine into Beetle - Dipstick location
So yesterday I was pulling more tinware and stuff off the engine so that it can be put in a Beetle, and apart from trying to figure out how the heck
you'd change sparkplugs in a Type3, my main question is dipstick location.
It's a universal case, and I've removed the type 3 dipstick and put the block off plate in place, but from what I can see there is a metal plug in
the position where the type 1 dipstick would go.
Is that going to be able to be removed without splitting the case because of the metal shavings?
Are there any other options?
Can I retain the type 3 dipstick and put an additional slot in the type 1 tinware for it to poke out of?
Thanks.

thats the one
I gots the same fitted on my type 3 donk.
Only other difference is the oil pressure sender in the oil cooler on the type 3's compared to being in the block like the bug donks. if you are
going to do an 'upright' conversion (IE: fit bug tinwear) you will need to use the type 3 oil cooler for its oil pressure sender (both bug and type
3 oil coolers are the same in geometry etc).
The oil cooler in a dog house fashion fits the same as a bug. You will need to use the bug oil cooler adapter (that the oil cooler bolts to, and that
bolts onto the block). Just be aware that you (if like my type 3 donk) may have to drill the hole for bolting the oil cooler adapter thingo a little
wider on the flange that goes over the passenger side bank for the oil cooler adapter.
Don't worry, its on the flange, and thus no swarf can get in the block as the shavings just go over the barrels.

You could drill a hole in the round part of the dipstick holder/block off plate and fit the temperature sender there...
or find a type 3 doghouse oil cooler... with the oil sender hole..

Um, could be interesting, because I'm pretty sure that it was previously fitted with an external oil cooler. There are at least three different
senders that I can see tapped in at various points, but I'll take photos once I've removed the rest of the timware and have a better view.
