Hinge pin
Does anyone know where i can take myrtles doors to have the hinge pin replaced for the one that takes mirrors?
I know you need a specific tool, anyone got one?
and do the doors need to be on the body to do this?
Thanks

Hi Kaz,
I took mine to Boris at Vintage Vee Dub 9789-1777 and had both upper and lower door hinges over sized as they were worn and at the same time had the
top pin fitted for the rear vision mirror.
Is only a call to see if they can help, Kev.

its better off if the doors are of the car and have it done before you have painted if possible
however if its painted then it can still be done just have to mask up with thick carboard to stop and scratches or damage being done to the paint
work
A SPECIAL tool is required

I had a loan of this special tool... Club VW in Sydney have one
Getting the old pins out is the hard part... they are VERY difficult to get out otherwise..
Mine went Bang when they moved for the first time...
New pins go in fairly easily..
as You can see.. I did mine with the doors on the car...
LEE
Hinge pins should be oiled at every oil change... Lee
