Keys
A Heads - Up for us all. I went into Mister Minit Wollongong on Sunday to get a couple of keys cut for my Type 3. Shock Horror!!!! he didn't have
any blanks and they are no longer on the Mister Minit order list.
Luckily the Shellharbour Square outlet had 10 left, but he said that he couldn't get any more.
Has anybody else had this experience lately or is it just in Wollongong?
May be time to either stock up or make sure that you have a spare or two put aside.

Not a problem getting them from VW specialists like Vintage Veedub or Volksbahn, but just not the Mr Minits at the local square any more. Miitre 10's
key cutting desk doesn't have them either.
Like most parts of the air-cooled era I guess (like 6V batteries, tyres etc). They are specialist parts now.

I got two cut at Muswellbrook Mr Minuteman recently
Neither are much good...
the ignition one is the correct key profile but You have to jigger the key around to get it to work??
the other one is just the wrong profile of key..
VO10 is the wrong key
and the ignition was a VO4R which is the correct profile..
but notchy...
these are for the 1968 Beetle...
for ALL the key info You need see....
; aircooledkey.com
I have nothing to do with this site but it tells You what key You have.. although all the key pics have been deleted..??
only the numbers on them etc... interesting..
Leanne sold all Her VW keys on Ebay...
I have 4 x H series keys which cost Me $20 each plus postage
these are VW keys... sell the 4 for $25 postage included.
LEE
I'll take note of the locksmith on here.. cheers LEE

I just get them from Gabriel on the samba, NOS keys cut 110% perfect according to code and not a copy from yours. So it ends up exactly like brand new
factory keys.

I had an original key with factory key number on it, and a local locksmith cut a new one from the number. It works great.

all MY original keys from My beetle had the VW number printed on every one... stamped in..
I would like to get the keys made from that number...
not from a worn key..

Like I said. A proper locksmith will be able to make new keys from the VW key number.
I got two new ones, and keep the original for the number only, and a spare as a master to cut from.
The biggest way to wear out keys and locks is to have bunches of other keys and stuff hanging off them.

also the best way to wreck an ignition switch...
have a lot of keys adding weight to the switch....

Hi again,
I have had the remote locks for about a year.. lol
but use My remote alarm ALL the time so I don't have to lock the car unless I'm in another town in a car park
I don't worry if parked in the main street..
its good to be in the country some times... lol

Me neither. I just leave my car with windows open and keys in the ignition most of the time.
