Call for nominations: Aussieveedubber of the year
Since leaving ezboard, we're turning 1! :birthday
What I'd like to do is get nominations for Aussieveedubber of the Year, either here, or e-mail me if you want to submit it
privately.
To avoid a huge workload, please only put forward at most two names - I'll tabulate the top 10 and run a poll starting next week so we can find
out who's done the most for the forum or the members.
I am going to disqualify myself now, and all nominations will only be accepted if the person involved also accepts being nominated.
It's been an amazing year, and thanks for sticking with us through all the teething problems.
Andrew

Wah, so many great Vee Dubbers here, and so many friends, this is a very hard one:jesus
Kol is, always there to lend a hand, my first contact from the forum, and to me a star:thumb
He was over with his kombi helping the Queen of Chat move house last weekend :thumb
Don't know I'd be so involved in things VW if it wasn't for you (well maybe?), plus wouldn't have made the friends I now have if
you hadn't somehow started the ball rolling with those weekends at my place working on Bel this time last year
Plus he's a postal legend here on the forum. Is anyone close to his total? Even with all my padding don't think I'll ever catch
up:jesus
OK he rolls down hills on his side, laughing (or was that us), sometimes, so |

Well been "Off air" for a while - dial up sucks.
But I'll make the effort for this one.
Andrew / Kol are my nominations - two top blokes who always go out of their way to help out - 'nuff said

The man who has done the most for the forum & it's members, Jim Gow, who else.
Notwithstanding Andrews efforts since the move, the inaugural award for Aussieveedubber should go to the man who made an idea into the reality we are
all members of.
It seems to me that Jim starting this forum has been forgotten of late, or actually may not be known by some of the newer members.
If not for Jim's determination, & the constant emails to myself & many others to "come check out my site", aussieveedubbers.com
may well not exist.
Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.

Maybe once all the nominations are in and it's voting time, we should get a 'who's who' run down so everyone knows what they have
achieved.
Might also be a way to recognise all nominee's as they all sound worthy to me.
Keep up the great work.

I'll go for Buggy Brad. He has sorted the major sponsor that kept us ad free, he sorted server space, he sacrifices huges amounts of bandwidth
from other paying customers, he (and andrew) fix the bugs, he helps people out with parts, he helps people with advise, and he also cops the most crap
and critisism from people (including the occasional law suit), yet he still helps.

do we have a basis for this voting?
anyway aussieveedubber of the year goes to most helpful, most twisted, most volkswagen fanatic: Kruizin Kol. or maybe his kombi.

most postal menacing goes to jenz for being the most insane poster.

I'll nominate Brad, for the same reasons that Wes did. Brad also helped me out when my roofbars collapsed on the beach and took my windsurfer
mast back to his place because I couldn't fit it in the kombi, gave me a carby because I need some bits off it, and also sent down some new parts
to help get Jen's Bel back on the road. A top bloke in my book. :thumb

My other nomination (so many to choose from :o) would be Graham (11CAB). Graham is a great bloke, and together with wife Mel, put me up in Brisbane,
gave me a roof bar, went and checked out the 3-way fridge I wanted to buy in Qld, including paying a deposit and taking it home to test it before I
sent the money up, and for generally being there when I've needed them. Not bad, considering I've only met them twice! :thumb

Uhh.. not sure if being nominated disqualifies me or not, but for what it is worth, I would send one Brads way for sure. What Wes has said is
completely true, and has been the brains and work behind this big idea.. without him, it wouldn't have worked.
I also say Colin, for his time, effort, and devotion put into this forum, and even more so into VWing in general. Always there to lend a hand, and
thats what it is all about.. Keeping these cars on the road.

Thanks for your kind words Col, but its only stuff that i would expect from friends.
My nomination goes to Kruizin Kombi, for the help he gives to everyone, and for what he did for everyone at Valla especially Amazer even during his

Hi there
This is an interesting subject and I think a better definition of what Aussieveedubber of the year is, should be provided.
If it is the man who came up with the idea and put in the initial effort and drive then it has to be Jim.
If it is the two guys who bang their heads against the walls of geekdom then I guess Andrew and I would be in the running. ( Must clarify here the
Andrew fixes most of the problems these days, including my stuff ups
)
BUT I don't think that is what it is about . Yeah for sure we supply the medium for the forum to occur and the initial idea behind it. Who really
gives a toss though ? I run about 6 forums and you must ask yourself what makes this one special ??
Well I think the answer there is pretty obvious it is the members, all of them. But what keeps them coming back is the atmosphere and the amount of
assistance people are willing to give to people they have never met. For sure I have sent parts to people I don’t know , I have also
received parts from others ( Thanks Spook ). It all evens out.
I try to reply to posts that get no other responses because I think that is what needs to be done to get people coming back and keeping them coming
back is what builds an online community. I must admit I do have a bad habit of letting the fact I am a cranky bum get in the way and I am all to happy
to take the piss out of someone I have never met.
Anyway when I look back over all the posts, there is one emerging trend that shins through. There is one individual who seems to offer advice more
than any other and tries their best to bring others together. I think these are the most important attributes required to be aussieveedubber of the
year and for these reasons ( read some of his posts if you want more ) I don't think you can go past ...........
DRUM ROLL .....................:o:o:o:o
VOTE 1 - Colin AKA KruzinKombi

4741 Posts - 13.18 per day - 7.22% of total posts on board. :o:o
Although quantity don't reflect quality on most occasions in this case I think it does.

Sorry, events surround customers with Blaster variants have kept me working insane hours these last few days.
Brad has the gist of it
I certainly would like a few more nominations before putting it to the vote, but I think maybe a nomination cut off of Friday 5 pm, at which time
I'll setup the vote.
