voltage regulator.

i have taken the voltage regulator out of my alternator after i found out it was not charging my battery and causing all of my ignition issues.
how do you check it now whether it has failed or not.
i put a multimeter across the two wires and got a reading of 24 ohms. it was set to 200k on the meter. any ideas please.
also where do you find replacement ones. cheers.

not sure what You are talking about...

diodes.... let current go thru one way only...
diodes are usually used to change AC into DC...

Just ditch it and buy a new alternator. Not dear at all.
The old one is only about thirty years old.

9 diodes in an alternator.

If you have an original VW don't throw it out.

I read it on samba, so it must be correct.

Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!

^^^ if you have an original get it rebuilt

You can buy the regulator from CB for $30.00 - but shipping is farking rediculous

Ring VW Parts Unlimited and get it through them
They dont list it but it is available

cheers
