removing genorator
just a quick question is it easy removing the genorator from a beetle have not had much experiance with vw any hints would be good thanks

Hi
You undo the nut on the generator by holding a large screwdriver in the slot on the rear part of the pulley at the same time as loosening the nut..
then undo the generator strap on the RHS of the generator..
then undo the 4 small bolts that hold the generator to the fan housing

That only works if you have twin carbs Lee.
Stock manifold gets in the way of pulling the fan out, so you need to lift the fan housing and inch or so.

Yes, Correction ...
I usually only do this when I'm taking the fan shroud off...
and the carby and inlet manifold are also off....
otherwise you cannot pull the fan straight out...
of the fan shroud.
