There is a specific cleaner in a pressure pack called Brakleen, a CRC product, works pretty well, you cpuld put them in a warm oven after you clean
them to see if any more oil comes out of the brake linnings.

Remove and soak them in metho and set fire to them. Do not use kero. Use Brakeclean after as I doubt if it would work by itself.
I read it on samba, so it must be correct.
Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!

Do not use kerosene it is oily.
Soak them in petrol for several hours and set fire to them several times.
If they still exude oil, get new linings.
It's worth a try.

Hi Jeff
I believe Brakleen works on clutches too...
although whether it works on metallic clutch plates???
but the other type.. YES... [used to be asbestos]
