german army grey ?????

Does anyone know a name or code for a military style paintjob on my dualcab? I've seen a kombi powered raised full body beetle that was finished in a matt grey that looked awesome and I was after a similar color for a tough look. (dont worry there will be no machine gun racks or swastikas) Any help appreciated.

Yup - so if you want an authentic'ish German army look what you want is RAL7021, officially called Dunkelgrau but known commonly as Panzergrau or Panzer Gray.

It's VERY dark and looks almost black in most photo's.

Most people expect lighter with a bit of a blu'ish tinge to it... IMHO that's what to shoot for.

One day I'm gonna remove some of this trivia from my brain hey...

Thanks Sides, are these 2 samples suppose to be the same? The second one looks lighter and closer to what I'm after. Ahh....yea...... I'm not sure what part of the brain you pulled this info from but at least it still works:tu:

Yeah, could've explained it better hey.

The first sample is the ACTUAL colour as used during the war on German armour, vehicles and equipment. (well, as close as can get on a computer screen)

The second one is what people THINK the colour should look like, and what they usually paint models and stuff with instead... like I said it's lighter and with a bluish tinge to it.

You could go to your local hobby shop and check out the Tamiya model paint range and get a paint shop to match it.
Tamiya has a great range of WW2 machine and colors to suit...
