Hahahahaha. Nice work!

I think you'll need to make a moly set now. Aren't you running stock Kombi to fit with your steering rack?

haha. I'm up to. about half a dozen, i may have overcooked the run up just alittle

Smiley- yeah i use kombi drag links, strangely the weak spot is not the little "s" bend they already have in them. I have a german one on one side and a china one on the other, which do think bent?

I'm betting the Asian.

At least you'll probably never break that rack again :D

With a little luck yeah, have spent a bit of time going over the front end this afternoon to check there are no cracks or such. I haven't pulled the rack yet (double check that it's not bent) At least this time both ends are not moving in different directions:lol:
But I think i may have destroyed one of the beam needle bearing, because there sure is alot of play on the drivers side top one where the arm goes into the beam.
Time to put delrin bushes in I think, anybody know a good place to get these in australia? or have a 1 3/8 - 1 1/2 adjustible reamer for that matter?

Hi Nils,
I've been following you thread on shoptalkforum Nilza's baja and am keen to pic your brain on a few items.
I have just started to build my second baja project
I've been in contact with a couple of aproved persons re engine / gearbox conversion stud patern and disk brake conversion, rollcage etc
all faily well straight forward.
I was wondering if your track (kombi width if I recall ), front and rear shock arrangements, long travel front and rear torsion bar replacement setup were included in your complience.
blue plate or otherwise I am looking to do something very similar.
My plans don't include a one piece front and pending track details possibly will include std kombi rear trailing arms (one inch longer 40 odd mm wider)
I picked up a complete CB front end to use, I haven't fitted it yet but from what I recall the drum to drum measurements that I made before it was put into storage (when I recently moved)
was wider than the std beetle front (90mm I think) is this correct? or do need to break it and the tape measure back out?
I'll get some pics up shortly
I'm pouring concrete for the shed floor in two weeks so hopefully after that I'll be able to kick it up a gear.
Cheers

Hi mk_II,
Wish I went the combi trailing arm route myself actually. would have made things easier. guess the first thing is, which state are you in?
Best bet would be send me a PM, or your phone number and i' ll give you the low down on it.

The kombi pivot box angle is different to beetle and I believe it to be very limiting to travel, I'd base the suspension on a type 1.
