My 58 Beetle

Hi All,

Just thought i would share a few pics of my 58 beetle. Narrowed & drop spindles on the front, notched spring plates on thr rear. I think the rear needs to be slightly lower, so any advice on this would be great. Have got disk brakes front & rear, BRM's with white wall inserts from Moon Eyes, roof rack, mexican blanket on rear seat, stock 36hp engine, 6volt & a few other little bits & peices. Great daily driver that it is a pleasure to cruize in.

Projects for the next 12-24 months will be converting to 12 volt, adding a sound system, bigger motor & maybe a set of empi 5's like the ones on 5LAM's ride.

Cheers all..
B

Not sure I like the White walls with the BRM's
but maybe that's just coz I've not seen many like that, which in my book is a good thing! well done.
How narrow be that beam?

In the immortal words of Borat... It'sa very nice !!!

I reckon the ride height is pretty much spot on where it is - same amount of black showing between whitewall and guard edge front and rear.

:tu:

Are they actual whitewalls, or just flappers ???

Beam is 4.5' inch narrowed....the wheels sit nicely inside the guards, no issues at all when turning with the wheels scrubbing on the guards.

Nah mate, they're flappers from Moon Eyes, USA. They sit pretty neatly against the tyres, just thought i would give them a try to see what they look like & i do like the look as it's different....as 63ragtop said there's not many going around with this set up.

I like the BRM's too. I nearly bought them instead of the Empi 5's.
I think they would look a lot better without the flappers.

Mate IMO it would look superb with a smaller whitewall thickness.

Lovely ride :)

J BOMB, didn't realise that was you that was asking about the plates. I got new ones as the old ones were scratching the car as they were in bad shape.....kept the same letters/numbers, just got new ones that's all.
