fitting Wilwood disc brakes to lowlight bus
As the title states, has anyone done this conversion on the rear of their bus?... or something similar

If the caliper has no dust boots on the pistons it will be hard to do the swap legally, as far as i know it is best to use a set of proprity calipers
from a car that has been covered by the ADR'S in Australia.

They do make a model with a dust boot too. I'm still doing research at the moment, but this got my attention.

Don't see why Wilwood or Brembo or AP aren't legal. Any engineer worth his money can approve a brake conversion. Really can't see why this won't
surpass ADR by miles. ADR are the stupidest vehicle rules in the world as it's been written by retards that don't have a brain. Maybe Oz should
adopt German TUV regs for something that is properly thought out!!!!

You can achive plenty if you work withinn the rules, if the brembo calipers came on a complianced vehicle you can use them, plenty of good quality
calipers available

As was stated earlier most Wilwood we see in this country
dont have a dust boot so crap can get into the bore and all of a sudden you have leaks and possibly brake failure, leading to an accident and when the
insurance company see's the calipers then no insurance. Dust boots serve a purpose. Wilwood didnt make street calipers they made race application
where pad changes are needed to be done quickly so no seals.
As we can see they do a caliper with a dust seal so your engineer should pass this if not find a local caliper that has the ADR needed and use
that.

Obviously I meant their sealed version as no country allows unsealed calipers for road use.
Check out Porsche 924 and 944 calipers but buy them in the USA or UK as Oz prices are retardedly high, if you could even find some. Even my Gold VR6
calipers where half price with shipping compared to Oz scrappies.

Just read your thread binner,You haven't mentioned why you want discs?have you experiencd brake fade?failure?and under what circumstances?I'm
wondering are you looking for improved braking or are you wanting it to sound good in a magazine.From my limmited experence half the cool stuff ruins
what makes your VW a VW!For example How does the Hand brake assy hook up to the wilwoods?You might try having a chat with some people who have done a
lot of towing with their kombis,Boris,The Pells,Wayne Penrose ,Matt berry and countless others that have done a lot of towing with disc and drum
kombis.

^^^ I don't wan't to be in a magazine, this isn't going to be a show ute it's going to serve as a family tourer/travel/camp vehicle. Discs are
there for helping me pull up when I'm towing. I want to keep the front brakes stock but beef up the rear for when I'm towing, hence looking at rear
discs.
Line loc isn't a solution as I don't want the loc on for a long period so I need to think more about.
Just found out John Sherman does a conversion kit that may suit. I don't see a problem with updating parts or reworking parts to function better on
VW's , I see it goes on quiet a bit these days....

Shermans gear ain't well engineered so don't bother.
For towing you'll need a biasing valve on the rears that self bias' depending on weight on the back. Just like utes and panel vans. If you don't
then under non-towing conditions you may well find the rears locking up before the fronts and that is dangerous and not allowed by the ADR. You can
also get cabin adjustable bias valves but dunno if ADR allow this?

^^^ yeah ,was looking at the cabin bias route but I see ADR is really tight on a few things. I'm glad I'm sorting this out now rather than waiting
till I'm closer to the time when I'm ready to fit....
I love living by many rules...
