Newbie from the states

My name is Brandon 28 yrs old from the states.

I talked to some guys on thesamba and they said check it out.

Have a rough time navigating this site.

Have had many VWs. Have 3 right now. A 63', 64', and 65' all beetles.

Would anyone care to post a link to for sale ads with RHD pedals for a 65' beetle?

Thank you all hope I can figure this site out. Like what I've read so far.

Hi mate, almost all of our VWs are RHD. There was a VW factory here building Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3 from 1953 through to 1976. From 1960 until 1968 they were even pressing the panels locally for the Beetle. VW Australia even developed and manufactured their own unique model, the Country Buggy, which has it's own sub-forum on here.

Let's see were to begin.

I'm gonna try to post a few pics of what I done this evening. Hope it works.

http://i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y320/vdubbles24/03400977.jpg
Started out with a dash clip from a Jeep CJ5, sorry no before pics I got excited.

http://i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y320/vdubbles24/7d24a009.jpg
Cut out the section I wanted and cut 2 5/8" out of the center.

http://i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y320/vdubbles24/4a632927.jpg
Here I just set it back in the piece I cut it from. Shrunk a tad.

http://i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y320/vdubbles24/9c1efc62.jpg
Did a test fit to see how much needed to go. You can also see 2 welds on the left side. I made 2 cuts total of about 3/8" to give it the same contour as the dash.

http://i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y320/vdubbles24/1f0678b9.jpg Mock up to make sure I'd have room for tge oval ash tray and grill.

http://i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y320/vdubbles24/db38850c.jpg
Front side all welded and cleaned up.

http://i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y320/vdubbles24/a373b7cc.jpg
Pic of the back side. Just to show it looks like a glove box all around.

http://i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y320/vdubbles24/aaf5afce.jpg
To get a better feel of it all. The center section "radio area" is getting a complete redesign in the next few weeks. When parts arrive.

http://i1025.photobucket.com/albums/y320/vdubbles24/69941635.jpg
Didn't need as much after all. Lol. It took a lot of trimming.

It's not a exact oval dash, to hard to find a RHD oval clip. But it'll all flow nicely together I think. Now on to makin a door this week. Tryin to get a lot of little things done before I set it back on the pan to finish lower 6"-8" of the back of the cab.

Little progress is better than none. Oh yeah steering wheel was a freebie along with jeep dash.

Check out the rest of my build, the link is attached in my signature.

The state of Queensland. Far North Queensland (FNQ) is kind of like Louisiana and the Northern Territory (NT) is full of cowboys like Texas!
