Dubs by the Pub 2012 (Type 3's by the Pub?)
Went to this years Dubs by the Pub today & it was a scorcher. So bloody hot but still made for a great day. Plenty of nice cars & a really
good showing of Type 3's this year, which for me, was awesome to see. I guess 2012 really is the year of the Type 3 hey? Pictured below is every
single Type 3 that I saw, sorry if I missed anyone.
Also I have a few random pics of other cars that caught my attention as well.
Was great to catch up with a couple of familiar faces as well. Looking forward to the next meet when ever that may be?

It was such a hot day that on the way home had to drop by the bottle shop to get some Corona's for this arvo. Chilling at home now having a couple
cold ones waiting for a storm to hit.

I have fond memories of the Goldy show my first love (Kombi) took out fav late bay in 2002. Not expecting anything never have as i'm more into just
the vibe of shows and they called my name out. My wife and I still laugh about it to this day of how i looked around waiting for someone with the same
name to go up and accept the trophy.

I've given up bringing the 411, never seems to generate much interest! Can't remember seeing pic's posted of it in previous shows I've taken it
to?
They were unpopular when new, and still unpopular now. Suits me fine as they are wonderful to drive

That's a shame Andy; the Type 4 was an interesting model in more ways than one. Heinz Nordhoff's last new model. Engine basis for VW/Porsche 914 and
Type 2. VW's last new air-cooled model. VW's first unitary body sedan, and first four-door car. And while not as popular as the Type 1, 2 and 3,
they still sold 368,000 of them in six years. The other four-door car VW was making at the same time - the K70 VW inherited from NSU, only sold
210,000. And as a model never sold in Australia (except for a few trial models), they should be of great local interest. Please feel free to bring
your 411 to the Nationals in Sydney!
Apart from the T3 Kombis, were there any watercoolers in attendance? Was any attempt made to invite watercoolers?

Too true. I suppose that the lack of interest, in part, is through a lack of knowledge of that model here in Australia. A real shame that there are
not a few more around as they are a great car to drive - I learnt to drive in my parents '69 2 door. Whenever I see one at a show I make a point of
showing Dad the photos in the hope that I can convince him to dust it off and drive it to the next show.... no luck so far. ... but I am still trying.

It always amazes me that so little is known about the K70 considering they are of such significant part of VWs history.
Most people just assume Golfs were VWs first watercooled front engine/FWD car not even realizing the K70 was made 4 years earlier.

I don't think I have ever seen a K70 in real life - only in photos. I would love to get a closer look.
..... perhaps we should move this part of the conversation to a different thread as it is a little off topic....

Yes, I know of yours also ratty. They are out there, has been at least 4 offered for sale in the last 6 mths i'm aware of at great prices, and only
one I know of sold!! No interest. In the short time I've been watching for them (few years), would be over 30 I have seen for sale, or am aware of
around the place, and am confident there are many more out there.
