[FS - QLD] 1957 11 Window Splitty - sold

Hi guys,

I've come to the realisation that I just don't have the time to devote to three VW projects since we are so busy with customer's resto's. And I really want to start on the barny since its been sittle idle for so long....so my 57 is regrettably up for sale (and my 54 oval soon once painted).

I bought the bus off Chris (Bribie Is) many years ago due to the fact it was so unmolested. Whilst there was rust present, the roof and gutters were close to perfect and top half of the bus was rust free (very important from a resto cost perspective).

An Indian Automotive bolt in IRS kit was fitted to the rear to bring it down along with some new dropped spindles up front (both included in the sale).

Whilst it had some killer patina, Damo who was an interim owner (before I swapped the bus back for my ghia) wanted a shiny bus so we had it blasted - this was a better way to assess and rectify any rust issues underneath, after cutting out the rust/crust we knew would need replacing:

Once blasted we knew the areas of rust in the chassis rails that needed repairing and hence performed that work:

etc....more pics here:

3 new i-beam and 3 new top hats were welded in and finally the inner sills on each side (not pictured)

The bus is currently at my dad's place on the north side of brissy (another reason its hard to get anything done on it since its not even in my workshop!). Its rolling (beam and rear end reinstalled.....no motor or gearbox). Comes with a front bench seat (I think out of a later model though as Damo sourced it?) but no rear seats.

The Klassic Fab panels supplied with the bus (not yet fitted) and those already fitted totalled $2930.75. Note cargo floor section not included as it needs a full cargo floor (have some coming in current KF order)

You all know the time required to strip a bus and the expense to have it blasted (by a reputable blaster) and then do the chassis work noted above, so price is set accordingly:

$bus is now sold.

Location (currently north side of brisbane)
Contact Al (al@dasrestohaus.com.au) or 0417 645 854

Will consider continuing the resto for a potential buyer (to be negotiated separately from the sale).

Cheers
Al

This was after a quick resto I gave it a few years back leading up to the Warwick VW drags. Won't be going back to bare metal since it had sound prep prior to the last paint job....no more BRMs or narrowed beam though.
