ok, finally a photo. This has all just taken too long, Ive been waiting for my rebuilt spindles to come back from the machine shop so that I can drive this thing (guess in the beer economy nothing moves to fast)
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj298/baja53/2011/dashdone.jpg

Put about 40km on it today and am really happy, Just a nice smooth needle:cool: no bounching, no wondering weather I'm going too fast. You never notice the aquire time and with the hot wire attached if you move the car within 4 hrs it works instantly. As far as the afor mentioned curiousity of weather it would be accurate on a steep hill, I think that it is taken into account seeing as it can tell you your elevation aswell.

Hey boozo, whats your 0-100 time!!

I put a autometer speedo in mine, just adapted the sender to the speedo cable and none of the issues with drop out through tunnels, in the city or drop out in general, pick up the metric speedo on the states about half the price in Australia.

Was a miserable $#ithouse weekend in wagga and never had any of the problems that my garmin GPS usually has. I have never seen it take more than a minute to acquire. All the horror stories that you guys are imagining with a GPS signal just isn't an issue, afraid these this really do just work.
I realise that most vw owners are old school and new tecnology is the devil, but for those who are sick of braking speedo cables and recalibrating when changing tyre sizes,

It has my vote

I never have broken a speedo cable in the time that i have had vw,s, the autometer gauge is so simple to calibrate, no dip switches, just mark out 2KLM,s and drive that distance with the speedo in its calibration mode

Great find guys

I might put one in my Karmann, as it will be nice to start from zero miles once the resto is done.
One tip is that if you get the 200kmph then 100k is when the needle is pointing directly up. Sounds stupid but if youve ever had a 300kph speedo you know what im on about.

I still wanna know what happens if you drive through a tunnel. So many tunnels in Sydney, all with speed traps.
