Deflection works for me,,

I usually deflect onto mates with more expensive toys - or try and say they are all for different reasons

-Country Buggy is for Anzac Parades and driving kids to shops
-Dual Cab is for driving family to beach with kids bikes in back.
-Offroad racer is for dirt and auto cross which kids will be able to ride in
-Herb is for street sprints and kids entertainment
-Manx is for anything that the above cant do - this is the point that bought me undone and then I had to resort to bribery with some expensive blinds.

So I am good for this week, who knows what tomorrow brings.

My last defacto wife after 7 years togather (total 10 years) I had given up model aircraft flying. She asked

"how much do you think you've spent on your hobby after 7 years of crashing them?"

I replied "About $11,000"

"Are you proud of that amount of waste?" she asked

"Well, I replied, its far less than the $35 grand you've spent of cigarettes!!! and I've got radio gears and parts worth about 5 grand left"

Then I watched Billy Connelly and his trike ridign around Australia. I pestered my wife for a trike for a year. We test rode one in Gosford.

She finally said "It's me or the trike"

"Well I said, we have closure"

She said "well that's the end of the trike"

I said "Nah, you got that wrong. I'll move out tomorrow"

She said "have you already got a rental house"

I said "yep. planned it yesterday. But after you givin me a choice its made it easier to leave.

That was the end!!!!

Now married to a woman who was my best mate for 25 years.

This pic was the wedding cake 14 may 2011.

I went to buy a panel on the weekend to fix my bug and took the wife along and she likes to look at vw stuff. She ended up spending more then me. She bought a vw electric guitar and a vintage sign. Now she wants to go see the vw factory in Wolfsburg. I think the pendulum may have swung!

I think my missus is actually jealous of my VWs as I pay more attention to them, and she actually hates my buggy like it's my mistress or something. I've had the buggy for 24 years and I very rarely do any work on it even though it desperately needs it but when she wants to start an argument when there's nothing else to find fault with she'll start saying that we should get rid of it!!

That was a perfectly logical money waste description.

A fantastic ending, and I love the way you say your wife is your best mate. You have to be friends.

I have no problem with VW sponsorship in my household. The Bus and the Beetle are hers. She is the one that insisted we visit the VW factory in Wolfsburg when we were in Europe.

I buy Gene Berg shifters, mag wheels, lowering kits etc. for her birthday

After you've spent up big, all you need to say is...... 'I thought you said "No, MORE money on the VW" '.

It will only work once, so make sure you get everything you need.

Hi

I'm guilty, I treat receipts as evidence so I don't keep them, the witness for the prosecution, my son has grown up now and doesn't dob me in any more.

You only loose money on your VW habit when you sell them, so don't sell them.

Can we clone Rose? Good sort and has a great attitude to spending money on VWs.

My wife offered me a deal. 15k now to finish the beetle, but then running costs only for 5 years, or unlimted drip feed of money..........

I had the bug before I met her ( and my motorbike) and she knows that she can never ask me to get rid of them, there were there first!
