Pop up Sunroof, 1973 bug
I am looking for a pop up Sunroof for my 73 beetle, Can any one tell me where to obtain a new or second hand one?
Two days ago I bought a sunroof from a dandenong vdub wrecker. i was told it was off a beetle, but it was definatly from a kombi. It was flat with no
curve!!! We took it back & was abused, got our money back but will never ever go back thier again!

I am no expert, but every pop up sunroof (tinted glass) Ive seen on a beetle has been flat not curved.

agreed. they are all flat, which is why they leak live a sieve. thats why britax style is so popular.

Not quite correct..
In the late 80s I bought and had installed a curved glass pop up sunroof in a '74 L Bug, specifically made for VW beetle.
It came from The Sunroof Centre in Melbourne..
Not sure if they are still around but worth looking..
Good luck.

Hi, Thanks for everyone's response. I have emailed the sun roof centre... so just waiting for a answer. I have seen a sunroof for a beetle that did
have a strong curve, it was a used one from VW wrecker, but it looked too old and might have leaked.

Thanks, have sent him an email
Found this:
http://www.sunroofdoctor.com/popupkits.htm
scroll down to specialty sunroofs...one for new & old Beetles
What do people think? Is it too big (18" x 28")?
& is it curved enough?
They are American but gave me a link to the Aussie manufacturer!
http://www.crlaurence.com.au/crlapps/showline/offerpage.aspx?Productid=9574&a...
There's a factory right here in Melbourne (my side too ) so guess where
I'll be going to have a look hehe
I would still appreciate everyones input...I need to know if it will fit a beetle without distorting the roof or leaking...

Reply to my email to the Sunroof Centre:
Thanks for your enquiry, we can not fit a sunroof to your VW Beetle as the roof of your car is too round, if you have any queries do not hesitate to
contact us on ph: (03) 9548-3366.
