A quote from the movie, The Castle - 'Tell him, he's dreamin son'.

As Ian said, if they were the last in Australia then maybe.

When you find a 54 oval for $2k let me know ;)

What people need to realize is they aren't just oridinary VW doors.
Ribbed oval doors aren't falling from the sky and have alot of unique parts like different vent windows, door latches, winder mechs etc.

They aren't worth anywhere near what he is asking but trying to find some in any condition is finding a needle in a hay stack and the seller is trying to cash in on that.

Best of luck with that....

What do they mean by ribbed? Like curved out ways? Did all 54s have these doors or are they super rare?

I agree where else have you seen early 55 ovals doors or earlier for sale complete. 500 a door x3 so 1500 is not expensive. cant blame him for a punt!

I'd have to have those for spares...

He is a dreamer. Lives down the road from me. Thinks 54's are ultra rare as he owns one and has had a few in the past.
He had a set of heart light casings on last week for 300. I tried to buy a whole 54 off him that was better than the one I had. i sold the one I had to pay for the new one and when I went to pick it up he said it is no longer for sale so I lost out BIG!!!

Good luck to him!
