Hinge pins

I did the driver’s side last night and all went very well. Looks way better than the mirrors originally on the 69. I went to do the passenger’s side tonight and everything that could go wrong did, that pin is in REAL tight. I have decided to give it away tonight and find someone with the correct (special) hinge pin tool.
Do you think todays date had anything to do with it?

Got the mirrors and other stuff from "http://www.vollks.com.au/", good prices, quite fast delivery and also refunded the bulk freight difference, thanks

Well I gave it another go using a different method. No luck. It bent, twisted, stretched and squashed my equipment and did not move at all.
I used a reasonable quality clamp ($30) modified it a bit to suit, a 3/16 stainless steel bolt and a lot of force using vice grips to torque up the clamp. The bolt was only a few mm proud to retain rigidity and hopefully placing all the force to the pin. It did not even look like moving, it opened the clamp up about 6mm under load. Im hope the “special tool” will do it. Its far more robust and should be free from any flex with good mechanical advantage with the pivit and load.
