Hey everybody. What is your fuel economy in your VW. Let's compare

Vehicle must be a VW, engine can be a conversion of another type. I understand there are many more factors, if there are any significant ones, add them to notes.

MPG
L/100km
Vehicle
Engine
Fuel delivery
Trans
Fuel
Notes

I will start it off

MPG 29.94 country
L/100km 9.44 country
Vehicle VW 1975 Kombi
Engine 2.2 Subaru EJ22
Fuel delivery Stock computer and injection
Trans 4 speed manual 091
Fuel Unleaded 91

1972 S-Bug
Stock 1600cc twin-port
9-10 L/100km everywhere, freeway, city, traffic, thrashing flat-out in the hills, motorkhana/khanacross days. It doesn't particularly seem to matter how you drive, almost every tank averages between 9 to 10 L/100km.
Fuel is 95 or 98 octane, only BP or Shell.

Currently averaging zero because it's sitting in the shed with no carburettors on it.

VW T 5 transporter. 2.5 five cylinder. Best so far 970k off 70 litres diesel. Thats 13.85k per litre. As for the bug with 2270 don't know yet can't keep foot off the floor.

This is my Volkswagen, there are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me my Volkswagen is useless, without my Volkswagen, I am useless.

My Beetle 1968 semi auto 4.375 to 1 diff ratio
1600cc single port engine - standard
extractors and new SVDA distributor with Pertronix kit
Brasilian WEBER single throat carburetor
electric fuel pump

I have no idea what fuel consumption I get.. lol
from 2005 to 2011 with bosch 009 distributor
You could see the fuel gauge going down..

since fitting the SVDA single vacuum dual advance distributor
the fuel consumption has been great and the car goes much better.. I use 98 or 95 octane fuel..
I believe I'm getting maybe double the mileage i was getting before going by the fuel gauge..?? I have also replaced the fuel hoses.. maybe a leak although never ever saw one..??

runs like a hairy goat on 91 with ETHANOL...??
loses heaps of power?? well it did before the extractors and new distributor.?? maybe I had ithe carby tuned wrong?? whether it still does I don't know.. I always forget to write down when I fill up...:grind:

Wow, all the Subaru bugs get such good mileage! It's tempting me over to the dark side....

Also, @vwvic, hell's teeth! 20+ litres per hundred in a 2 litre Kombi! You would do better than that with a V8 in it!

That's the joys of modern fuel injection and 16 valves.

VW engines can get very respectable economy with modern fuel injection fitted but it's not a cheap exercise, especially when it's cheaper to fit a Subi engine which already has it standard.

my boss has a TDI 08 or 09 passat.

I can vouch for this.

only problem is the fuel savings are offset by the horrendous service and repairs cost of such cars.

anyway I got about 15-17 l/100 in my notch. The engine seem to output really good, but its vital signs show something is seriously wrong internally.

My daily bomb is 20 this year this year and when it was all freshen up did 9L/100 city 6-7L/100 highway. Now that I have flogged the crap out of it for 75,000km over a period of 2 years, which 60,000 in the last 14 months it gets around 10 city, 8 on the highway. I so wish it had a MAF instead of MAP based EFI system
