All worthwhile in the end.
If you're struggling through an engine swap- hang in there.
After all the nutting through wiring diagrams, reconfiguring water flows, searching parts exchange books, silly questions and naysayers, I can
genuinely say swapping in a late model engine over delivers in every way.
500km blat last Saturday- no oil leaks, no bad behaviour, good fuel economy, starts first kick, sounds great and stupendous power anytime. 110 turns to
140 with the slightest squeeze and sat on 85 degrees all day. Didn't see anything I didn't pass.
Couldn't be happier with my view all day-

Glad your happy. 2 questions
1/ is it all legal and plated ?
2/ total cost for conversion?
These answers never seem forthcoming on the merits of converting. My2c

Yes its the scoop for a large intercooler.
All legal, engineered and insured.
Basic engine swap was just over 5 grand, offset by 2 grand getting rid of the vw setup. This setup went 112kw on 31 inch mud Tyres ( so would have
been aprox 140 on stockies)
Engine mods since then have added 6 grand and almost doubled the output.
That much money on a vw motor and box would never have been an option for me. My ( limited) experience of high power vw setups is of disapointing,
cranky, handgrenades that don't last without constant attention.
Plus there's the added bonus of really annoying the purists.

I don't think there are any buggy purist. By definition they are all kit cars so are open to any type of modification. So you have doubled the hp but
not upgraded the brakes and its legal? What box are you running if not a Volksy? Did those costs include the box and brake upgrades if any? Looks like
a nice unit. Enjoy

Yep. But both got further upgrades since ( was more than adequate at the time, my engineer insisted on the dreaded abridged brake test)
The engine mods meant the brakes had to be further upgraded- another test and additional certificate.
Box is currently a built two liter kombi. Wrx replacement box is sitting on the bench waiting for some love.
Deffinetly offended some purists with the engine swap, and some folks just don't find the giant scoop as funny as I do.

You'd be surprised how many times people have looked down their nose at me for going watercooled. Sadly there is an element within the buggy
fraternity that doesn't take anyone seriously unless they are driving a geniune meyer's manx with an ACVW motor. Stupid, but there it is...
Liam, did you end up going the big block?

Hi Pete, stuck with the 2 liter.
Engineer wasn't having having a bar of the 2.7, sold it for more than it owed me so can't complain.

Generally I think the scoop is pretty funny- it's certainly a love it or hate it proposition.
Pete, yes was a stroked long block 2.5 that a mate had- now he has it back.

Will be nice with the 5 speed in it.
