superbug speedo

I have a superbug speedo in kph (160 kph)
Can this be used in a standard beetle that has a 90 mph speedo?
Any info would be helpful

Hi

Superbugs never came with a metric speedo, the later curved window 1303 or L bug did, but these can be recognised easily. If its out of a flat screen superbug it may have been retro fitted.

They don't have the ears to bolt the speedo to the back of the dash like you would need and they have a face sitting at an angle to the glass and use a rubber sleeve to hold them in place.

Hi

I just found a photo of each model speedo, flat or curved screen.

Thanks Steve
I have the flat screen KPH speedo but the part # is 1139570215. I was under the impression that the 113 suggested it was a superbug.

That aside can I use this speedo in place of the 90mph version ?? If so is it a straight swap or is there some modification required ??

Hi

As long as it has the ears on it will fit straight in.

There was a variation on the speedo cable nuts on cars with Australian made speedos, but the Australian made speedos in later bugs were 100 mph.
