[FS - VIC] 1960 Beetle for Sale SOLD
I was going to start with how sad I am etc but does anyone really care. However due to some changes in circumstances and some family travel plans I
have decided to put this old girl up for sale.
Most of you will be familiar with he car but here goes anyway. Not totally sure of it's history other than a couple of other lufters owning it in the
past.
You'll see from the pics this is a pretty unique looking Beetle - Old School Vintage Speed Rat Racer is how I would describe it.
If you don't like attention don't buy this car - people constantly taking photos, smiling and giving the thumbs up etc.
1960 build with the snow flake taillights
Body
No rust - seriously when I bought the car I thought no rust. I am still yet to find any.
It is pretty straight - however there are a couple of repairs to the roof where someone had a sun visor fitted (I think)
Mechanicals
12 volt conversion with alternator and 12 volt working semaphores (no additional blinkers etc)
1600 detailed twin port with webber carbs and stainless sidewinder exhaust system. Idles well, probably running a little rich and does not chew oil or
fuel.
Absolutely everything works properly - except the interior light (has an earth leakage problem)
Lowered with adjusters at the front and turned two splines at the rear.
Koni shocks on the front
Brakes all adjusted and work well
RWC - possibly depending on price.
Gearbox is quit and shifts nicely, steers well and handles nicely.
All electrics, lights, wiring etc all working well and professionally converted.
Interior
Original and nearly intact interior - roof-lining is original but has a few slight cracks in it near the rear window, otherwise beautiful, rear seat
and passenger seat near perfect, drivers seat covers average but suit the car.
Has interior rubber floor, needs the accompanying carpet kit to finish off.
Only extras to interior is a VDO fuel gauge and a 12 volt charge point in the glovebox, front seat belts, one rear seatbelt and a baby seat restraint
in the rear.
Pop Out rear windows
Exterior
Paint - Mostly original but patined (some faux, some real) with subtle but highly effective pin-stripping
Australian Flash Trim
Wheels
Mooneye Speedmasters - these are the ducks guts and near perfect
Tyres - Coopers on the back, Smart Car tyres on the front.
The guy who set the wheel and tyre combo up has thought it through and even down two notches it does not rub front or rear.
What else
Custom Plates with Vintagespeed mounts for the front
Colour copy of the cars feature in ultra vw a few years ago
It is very clean and has a polished vintage speed rat racer look to it
Australian Flash trim has custom aged chequer design painted into it.
It no longer has all the stickers on the side or back windows.
Vic rego until December 2012 - you can legally drive on this until you get a RWC
The Bad
Front and rear window rubbers need replacing- they leak in the rain (not that it has been kept n the rain for years as far as i can tell)
Interior light works but runs the battery down over a few days.
Gets more looks than a bright yellow Ferrari.
The car is located in Brunswick Victoria - happy to help with shipping - but you could drive it anywhere. I have a ship load of pics and am happy to
take pics of any area that you want.
Price:
$9000ono - of course I am open to discussion on this however don't bother with ridiculous lowball offers.
Happy to sell without wheels and tyres too.
Inspection preferred however I am happy to take as many photos of any part of the car as you need.

Guys I got stuffed around - sale was on, sale was off, sale was on sort of stuff. In the end he pulled the pin as I told him he had to get his own RWC
as clearly stated in the ad. As a result I have been umming and arrhing myself. However it is back on the market.
If you interested are make sure you talk to me.
Any feedback on the car or the price would be appreciated.

I thought the seller was obligated to supply the roadworthy, other wise it has to be sold unregisted.
