a very vw weekend

yesterday (saturday) carl and i picked up our 3 beetles that we had bought in the last month. I picked up the car trailer then carl and i picked up the first a very rough 65? model had been sideswiped but was 12volt and had a gbox which we needed to put into carl's to get it mobile.

On the way we met up with rhys (kombikid) and his dad ray as they had just bought a very nice 411 here in lismore

then drove to coraki and pulled the gbox out and loaded it back on the trailer
for some reason the cars wheels were covered in snails which carls 2 kids picked up to feed to their lizards?
then put the gbox into carls 62? and moved it for the first time in about 4 years
they had pulled the gbox out 4 years ago to have reconditioned then didnt have the money so the mechanic sold the gbox and it had been there ever since I had offered to buy it a few times but they had always wanted too much for it so carl got lucky.
we dropped it to carls house much to his wifes delight
then we picked up my 62 with the chrome flash and moved it to its new home in casino.
we must have seen about 20 vw's on the day more so than ussual and had a great time.
then today I went to the lismore swap meet and met up with rob. there wasnt much there in the way of vw stuff but I picked up a couple of manuals was looking at a tire changing machine for $60 made in china but very handy things but someone else beat me to it
so a very vw weekend

Sounds a very productive VW day:cool:

Mmmmm, beetle with chrome slash, nice:thumb

So all the beetles for restoration or one/two for bits?

Are you creating a stable of VW's:)

Yes it was a good day for me too! I met Marcel, and scored two factory splitty owners manuals! then spent the rest of the morning at Bangalow markets, spotted Greg and Maya from Klub VW Byron! saw a Bettle in Bangalow with a Hellbus sticker on the rear window! and a nice 76 Kombi at the swap.
A top day all round!

Yep sure hope to be, but will be in the dirty old truck[twin-cab] as the bug wont be on the road for a while yet.
look forward to meeting you, and others then.
