They are called Escras, they are quite hard to fit to a lowered car, the new ones with the ribbed spoke are a better offset.

You may be in luck, though unsure of new vs. old....

They are the ribbed spoke ones with the good offset Craig.
Personally i think the newer ones with the rib look waaaaay better. Have owned a set of both and am in the search for a set of Air Evo versions that look better again.

pic 1: Air Evo 17x7 et 40 - slightly flatter wheel facia.

Pic 2: MWS 17x7 et 40 - Slightly pointier facia

Pic 3: Escras 17x7 et 42 Flat spoke

Like you need more rims to choose from Adam :ninja:

I guess it comes down to personal preference, but seeing the pictures you provided, I agree with you that for me the ribbed version looks nicer than those at the bottom. But these are different to the ones posted by Blair that he is seeking, which also look great.

Cheers

Craig

Have a chat to a few of the guys in the 'collective' Blair.... The SEARS style Radar is what they all run.... Not sure if they are the ESCARA's or RANDAR's versions though.... Anyway.... Casey has some on his Ghia, Sean has some on his Bug and Johnno has a set on his SC.... All fit nicely IMO, and Johnno or Casey will have a head's up on where they got'em.

Hi Chris,

Yr vid isnt the best example, that is a highly modded bus (Also lives in Aus) which i believe has had those wheels removed.I am not saying you CANT fit em to a lowered car its just that there is a shit load more work involved to make them fit, the new wheels are far more user friendly. I have fitted Escras to early beetles the offset prevents the wheel being fitted to a car with the shorter axles as the wheel will foul on the spring plate, to fit these we had to do a long axle swap or run wheel spacers. the newer type have a far better off set for wheel and tyre clearance (will also have to do the swap or spacer out with the shorter axles,) and forget about fitting the 17s with adjustable spring plates as the adjuster hits the inner lip of the wheel.

Not quite correct, Air Evo's are actually 17x7 ET20 which is why they fit so well without need to fit longer axles/1 inch spacers etc.

Blair, I have a set of 4 brand new (original production style) 17x7 Escra's that have only been used to test fitment. I could be persuaded to sell them, so shoot me a PM if you're still keen :)
