-Fuel tank sensor has been put together and brackets, bolts etc have now returned from being zinc plated
-Fuel line has been run
-Voltage regulator fitted
-Reverse and other rear light cabling
-Planning has begun for the bonnet release (as this will be via remote)
-Charcoal cannister, wiper motor, fibreglass glovebox and other parts ordered

Every function can be controlled either by the remote control, SMS or bluetooth & app.
So there has been lots of concentrating on the alarm this week which has become central to most of the car. The modular relay and the rest of the
wiring is now well under control.
As well as the alarm, we've been taking a closer look at the ring lights on each of the silver buttons on the dashboard which are being set up with
dual duties so now I have at least some warning/notice systems:
Lights:
- Green light - will flash on turn signal and emergency lights
- Red light - will activate on engine overheat or loss of oil pressure
- Blue light - hi beam lights
- White light - Charging problem
Buttons:
- Green button - Emergency lights
- Red button - ignition on
- Blue button - show lights
- White button - bonnet release

Coming together now! Ignore the front indicators, they are for another year of Beetle, correct ones are on the way.
-Fuel tank completely installed (fitted fuel tank and all attachments, fitted rubber onto steering column, fitted all fuel tank hoses
-Bumpers attached (still needs the black strip to be applied though). I'm using the original bumper bar brackets which are nice and thick so
they've been blasted, primered and painted
-Fuses assigned to various circuits
-Hazard, turn signals and horn configured. Ordering relays from Germany as the Tridon ones kept on failing
-Mirror attached
-Rear vents fitted

-Seats and interior delivered to trimmer, all of the interior has been chosen!
-The mess of cables has started to be tidied and some testing has been done on the speed sender for the digital speedometer (which is specially made
in the UK by a small garage for these gauges)
-FINALLY the type of front indicators I was after have been installed. I went through 2 styles (the original 71 and then 58-62, both of which I
didn't like or they didn't fit). I'm now happy with the 68-69 clear ones (with orange bulbs)
-I have purchased more dash buttons because I had issues with the current ones. Also purchased speaker cable (12ga for speakers, 10ga for sub) which
will be run in over the next week or two

-Probably a week away from installing a temporary seat and driving back and forth for testing, tuning and speedometer calibration
-Everything electrical (except audio) is now working and today the original silver buttons are being removed (as they started to have issues) and been
replaced with these much more expensive but much better quality options: http://au.rs-online.com/web/p/push-button-switches/0224726/. This decision was made because the car is still in the workshop
and the buttons I purchased have already been failing!
-Interior light installed, headlights, highbeams, emergency, indicators, etc. all working!
-Speaker cabling will be installed this week. There's now so much electrical cabling in my car that they cannot go in the heater tunnel with the
rest of the cables so they'll be just outside of it!
-Still waiting for trimmer to do the headlining

-New switches fitted, one of them that was sent is the wrong one, so waiting for the replacement. Can't finish wiring until that is received and the
relay bracket has been completed
-Resistors installed, circuit for incandescent charging light installed
-Engine tested to stable temp

-Trimming started on the seats, waiting for the headlining still

that alternator looks like it has a built in regular so you just need to by pass the one under the back seat and take it out.
disregard my comment if its there for a reason 
as I just had a fast read of your build story and may of missed stuff

Roof lining is in and I'm very happy with it! Black roof, charcoal sides. The rest of the interior will also have this colour combination. I've
taken pics with flash and without. Even though the flash makes it look brighter than it is, it's the easiest way to see details

This an epic build. Attention to detail is superb. 2 questions if I may:
1. Can you show how you are running cabling into the doors
2. Where did you get the 12 blade fuse block?

A few annoying items holding things up a bit:
-CIP1 shipped me the rear window rubber for a split window so I had to source a replacement
-Windscreen rubber wouldn't fit so had to re-source
-Been waiting for platers to return from holidays so they can plate the bolts to attach the bonnet
-Trimmer has been busy and hasn't been able to come in for the last 2 weeks
On the positive side though:
-My other trimmer doing the seats and door panels says that the seats will be done by the end of the month and door panels shortly after
-Rear window and windscreen are now in with perfectly fitting rubber
-Final dash button finally arrived and has been fitted
-Test fit of a random bonnet cabling shield which we will base a custom built one on. Just wanted it for size

I'll get the info on the block for you. The cables run into the doors using a custom made metal pipe. I though I had a short of it but I'll find
some and put them up this weekend.

-Bonnet hinges and gas struts fitted
-Door windows including quarter windows fitted. New groove felt was sourced as the ones from CIP1 weren't of very good quality
-Fuel priming pump fitted for better starting using phone/remote
-Seats and trim next to rear seats completed and returned to O&S
-Trim from the roof down to floor has had to be removed as it was too thick for the doors to close properly. Now that the seats are on site, the
trimmer should be able to finish that off and get the carpet done!

Some average pics this update, more and better ones coming on Saturday.
-Amp rack built and racks installed
-Carpet installed
-License plates fitted (with spacers to protect body) and rear light installed and tested
-Horn installed
-GPS receiver installed
-Radio antenna installed
-Bonnet hinges and bonnet installed
-iPod to USB cable installed through glovebox (connects iPod to head unit)
Sub amp on the left, speaker amp on the right. Enough space in the rack to change amps later if necessary. I already had these though

DON'T get me started on those 2 holes in the glovebox door. I overlooked them. I'm not getting them fixed at this stage. After I've enjoyed the
car for a bit, I'll remove the door and get O&S to fix the holes and repaint. Not only do I want to take the car ASAP but I also need to put off
some spending until after I have settled a few other expenses.

We're so close that I could almost start listing what's LEFT to do instead of what has been done!
Not much since the last update as that was mid-week but I just wanted to get some better photos. The trimmer needs to finish off the ceiling to floor
posts, finish off the bonnet interior, the rear windows need to go in, front seat needs to go in then it's test drive time. Speed sensor needs to be
calibrated too.
Sadly it looks like I'll miss the VW Nationals by a week or two... [EDIT] Maybe not as it looks like it's at the end of May this year!!!

Back into the spray booth! There was a tiny indentation in the paint after sitting in the workshop for a few weeks so that has been fixed (which
involved repainting the roof). I'm really happy that it has been done as it attracted my attention every time I looked at the car.
The bonnet also needed to be resprayed after reinforcing the locking mechanism.
Bonnet compartments and carpeting has been completed. Still waiting for interior pillars to be trimmed and rear windows to go in...

Did you fix those holes in the glove box while they were throwing paint around?
If not and you wanted to do something outside the box, I could model and 3D print a custom badge ro fit there.
