Cylinder Head Void in Chamber
just curious about a small void in the chamber of my new heads, should it be there as the cnc cut did not cause it.
any ideas. (get new heads)

Seen it before in a CB 044, I replaced it with another new one that had spark plug issues but the lesser of two evils (helps to buy local). Could weld
it up but then the valve seats and barrel seats will need redoing, most do anyway. Yes , brand new.

Interesting, Matt.
I am planning to build an engine soon and have a few questions.
So,would you recommend redoing the valve seats and barrel seats on new heads, regardless of supplier?
Andis it ok to ask which local suppliers do you use?
I was planning to get most of the parts from the US, but it would be a pain to deal with a warranty issue like this.

Hi Phil, yes I recommend a valve job and flycut on new heads. They will always show some irregularity upon machining.
Yes it's ok to ask which supplier I use, but I use several depending on what I'm looking for, but I'd recommend Vintage Vee Dub Supplies,
Crankshaft Engineering and Rod Penrose, but I also buy direct CB, Scat and JPM, and yes it does help with warranty if dealing local. When dealing
direct, the return freight costs make a warranty claim close to useless.

Thanks Matt.
I guess the money you save by going direct you may have to spend buying twice.
Who is doing good head work these days?
I'm not sure if anyone is still doing head work here in Adelaide.

Good question, I've been using a few lately, my first choice's seem to have stopped trading the last few years. I've always done my own porting and
chamber work but need to work in conjunction with a good machine/head shop. Feel free to phone for some recommendations.

With overseas buying, You need to think NO WARRANTY,
same as with wrong parts supplied... CANNOT return
as the costs involved make it too expensive to return and then depends on whether the USA supplier will pay for the return part to be delivered to
Australia...
