I think second pic is very early on run becouse he has'nt hit the wheelie bars hard yet ( the bottom bar bends up ).
Nice pic the 1st one , looks like a tranny breaker hard launch but car is moving forward nicely .
My car , I like to spin the tyre a little to help save tranny so it doen't bog down ( not enough power ) befor it hits hard on wheeelie bars ( stop
traveling up) and lifts front wheels ( not yanks up front wheels ) .
Tyre pressure (slicks 8.5 inch) 14 to 18 psi covers what I need , any less can break parts and car needs changes in set up , to make it work ( shock
adjustment , front shocks loosened up , more rev's ) .
Track condition plays into it as well !! very inportant to look at track conditions and watch other cars befor you make a run .
Old days of 10 to 12.5 psi doesn't work for me , kills crown wheels and first gears .
Clutches come in to it , there as been big changes there .
There is many , many ,many things to getting a car down track .

As we all know, everyone has different ideas on setup, all cars are different when it comes to suspension set up, spool or no spool, tyre pressures,
tubes or no tubes, when the pressures are checked - cold or hot, wheelie bars and rim width has an effect. Even the construction of the tyre has a
big effect on what the sidewall looks like during the launch. Many drag slick manufacturers now offer both stiff and soft sidewall slicks
I personally prefer lower pressures (11 to 12 lbs) in the rears for a couple of reasons:
* when the tyre squats, the overall gear ratio is lower as the effective diameter of the tyre is smaller. This can sometimes help the launch and 60ft.
times. The tyre then recovers for MPH further down the strip
* when the tyre wads up, it can soften the launch on violent clutches (ask me how I know that one!)
* Lowering the rear pressure can also fine tune driver's reaction time
The biggest thing I believe, is to make sure there is enough pressure in the rears to keep the rear from "walking" at the top end.
For me, the word is consistency including using the same tyre gauge all the time
Another important thing is to check the front tyre pressures often also as they have just as big effect on reaction time
