swamp coolers
On ebay there is a guy who is selling swamp coolers (old ones) from the States and bringing them over to Qld. in August. I questioned him, as they
would be for LHD and needed to be on the passenger door, whether he had any for RHD cars, so they would built opposite. His answer was they were only
ever made in the USA in the fifties, not in Aussie. I thought I had seen these in the late fifties and sixties here but maybe I am wrong!
Does anyone here know whether there were ever any RHD ones manufactured?

As far as I know, the main company's that made swampys (Thermadore, Allstate etc) only did them in LHD.
I've only ever seen a one pic of a RHD swampy, ironically in the states. Though it was a different brand.
All the Aussie guys I know that have them are running LHD one's.
I had a LHD one for over 10 years (only sold it last year) and it would live on my cars in the hotter months, still plenty of vision out and never had
a problem with it being next to me.....

Dude is that a swampy or a camping roll mat!
Most likly works a treat but still doesnt come close to the real deal.
When i run the swampy on my car i want it to look like a Bazooka and scare people in the traffic!

He he, great response! I guess the original LHD one's are the go, thank you for the pics. I drove my '62 an 1/2 beetle across the Nullarbor with a
wet towel jammed in the window to beat the heat back then, remember seeing a bug with a cooler in the sandy car park at West beach, Adelaide, when
there were shacks in the sandhills there, early sixties, but which window it was on I'm not sure. Apart from eating hession do they work?

Like I said I used mine all through the hot months, loved it, never had a problem.
I don't have a car it fit's at the moment, so I sold mine last year. They're always for sale on US ebay though.
